After 3yrs of working at McLaren i finally went out in an SLR roaster the other day!!!

Safe to say damn that is 1 quick and amazing car!!! Got taken out on a shake down which is bascially when they test drive each car/bed the brakes in etc and its safe to say i got out feeling a bit sick The brakes are amazing, too good for my liking lol, and the speed it reaches 100mph is next to nothing!! and being thrown into corners at around 130mph really does scare the crap out of u when ur not actually driving and the car is still accelerating!!!!!!

I saw one broken down today on the A4 going into town by Tesco's near Earls Court, looked like the OSF wheel was missing, it was a black left hooker. Not sure if the wheel had fallen off, tyre exploded, or something had hit it, no other cars were parked around it.

I got taken out in one where i used to work, just an industrial estate blast. Apart from the speed and quality being out of this world i remember thinking....Ł300k is FAARRRR too much for a car but this is worth Ł300k lol.

missus fathers boss has the sl55 amg looks like the mclaren a bit apart from its not as light etc, i think i preferred the noise more then anything, hes gonna sell it and buy the new merc black that was on top gear the other night, what a legend!

Porkie, yep already seen it mate we've worked on the prototypes etc and saw it the same day the 'spy' shots were being taken, deff a marmite car in the flesh!! althou its not quite as they worded it on piston heads as its the next car on from the SLR rather than a speedster version of it, althou it is based on the SLR chasis as they is a work of art!! and they basically sold all of them on the spot at the unveiling!!!

I'm disappointed that you still havent driven one. I get that the car you rode in was ultimately someones new car. But they made soo many PP cars. Its not like it would be impossible to get one of the old work horses out just for the experience. Its not like you're going to turn it down because the top shell is Silver and the mono Black is it. Or that its got half a roll of gaffer tape down the sides!

Nah wasnt me mate i was at chobham not dunsfold, their all roadsters as we stopped making coupe's along time ago now!!

Tell me about it Rich, no matter how many times we ask it aint gonna happen again!! Guess its the cost of insurance, fuel, tyres plus any other bits that fall off dduring the day thats the problem

U heard about the new colours we've been doing or the R10s?! we've painted loads of white and yellow ones now, and recently done an ivory one for someone, and just for a laugh one of the R10s is a nice bright red and the other a rust colour!!
