In the book I have here the complete car weighs 1206kgs if it's a 2 wheel drive and 1305kgs if 4 wheel drive. I don't know how accurate that is though.

JB,
The 1700kg figure is the maximum fully laden weight .

The other figures quoted are without fluids, so you will find that a Sapphire generally weighs around 1250-1275kg, depending on wheel & tyre / brake size.

Obviously doesn't help with figuring out the stripped weight .

Cheers Mike !

Was wondering why mine was so stoopidly heavy to start with when everyone else was quoting 12 something !

Gonna have to get to a weigh bridge, but once my boot's on I think

most counil dumps will have a weighbridge, you just need to fork out a few quid to find out how much the figures are telling you, although you can always have a sneeky peak at the readout if you bring along some binoculars

With me (and my "bling) in the car, some crap in the boot jus below 1/2 tank fuel it weighed 1265kg's

Is that good or rubbish ?

He recond take about 100kg off without me so 1165kg.

Are you really 100kg you lanky streak of piss?

I'm 73kg wet through , and my Sapphire weighed 1275kg WITHOUT me in it and with half a tank of fuel, so that is very good weight reduction in your car .

Plastic windows? Take the crap out of the car that you keep carrying around . What's the point in making it light to then fill it with your shit ?

Light weight wheels.

Carbon roof (or very least one without a sunroof).

Remove the wiring loom and start from scratch and make a custom one with just all the bits you need.

Doors next, but keepin the frame on the front for protection mainly, then roof Not doin the poly windows cos I don't like em & I do like to have a few creature comforts, hence leccy windows still in front, leather fronts & a sub & amp in the boot !

To compensate tho, I kicked the spare wheel out & cut the spare wheel out the boot too !

afpmsl @ you 2 ! Kirstie's jus bought one as well & on way to Southers last night she listened to that cos I didn't wanna listen to her dodgy music !

Then I got her singing !

The creature comforts come out last, after I've done all else as the car is STILL an everyday day !

Yes, you could save in excess of 40kg by removing ALL the glass (bar front windscreen) and replacing with polycarbonate, as you can then also loose all the electric window motors....

That is quite a significant saving .

hmmm 40kg ??

That along wit the roof, 4 doors, boot & spoiler I gotta be under 1100kg then ??

So temptin ! I'll have to confir wit the ladie friend tho, see how she feel bout lil slidy windows instead of big up & down wondows !

Not that I'm under the thumb or nothin tho !

jb

P.s. Rich, the cage is quite weighty, got knows what it weighs tho, it's a bolt in gobbie without the front section attached !

If its a bolt in job, how much effort would be required to get it out and then get it back on the weigh bridge. Bet its more than you think it is. I'll come round and help you remove it one day if you like

Yeah yeah might be an idea Rich, you jus gotta whip one of the doors off !

Think I might start attacking the car again wit the grinder, the front tow eye's already gone, as is the rear !

I drilled loadsa holes in the o/s/f inner wing too to help the filter get as much air as possible, then flopped the fogs out, moved the washer bottle to the boot wit a smaller bottle & fed another air feed from the fog hole to the filter & added a lil splash guard so the wheel don't flick up to much shyte !

Even the boot hinges have gone to save some weight !
