Default Any "grace" period on car tax??

As title.Cossie needs taxing tomorrow but possibly getting new car next week so Cossie will be going off the road for 6 months.
Can you still get away with not taxing a car immediately under the premise of"i was just on my way to do it officer",especially if you carry your documents around with you!

Howver if your last day of tax is a saturday or sunday you will be given till the business day following ends

Ie if it aint taxed or sorn by Tuesday morning you could easily get an £80 fine

If yiour going to take it off the road next week i would sorn it now and take the risk

foook all chance of gettin caught

2 options - SORN it and chance it (are our roads really worth the money we pay for them?? )

Get a 6 monther and claim it back ASAP so you only pay for the first month.

Put my track car on a Sorn 3 years ago and aint heard a thing since dvla cant be too bothered I guess

dont buy 6 months road tax if you are going to cash it in.

buy 12 months

there is an admin charge in the 6 months tax which is unrefundble. so you lose more money.

pretty straight forward to cash it in etc

there IS a grace period. I called them and asked as I had to get an MOT done on the wifes car. It's about a week (as long as you buy tax starting from the 1st of the month when it was due) and you haven't used it on the highway
