When a car is advertised what does it mean when they put Cat D or Cat C etc?

means its been written off by the ins company, cat c being the worst of the two ie needing a check (vic) but cat d can be strutally bad too

my e36 m3evo is a cat d, previous owners girlfriend got the hump over something bad i suppose and keyed the whole car all over and then got inside and cut all the leather with a stanley knife! so he had to claim on his insurance. so not always that bad.

I see, thank you. Why do they go a lot cheaper....when coming to insure one does the insurance go up or something?

can do yeah dpends who you go with......

gotta remeber half of the time you dont know the damage as to why it was wrote off could of needed jigging up all round even on a cat d....

Thats another thing. When people say its needs jigging up what does that mean? Never looked into buying from a scrappy but some cars go so cheap there because of Cat C' and D's

yeah somtimes can be other times could just be cat d due to vandal damage...

its the cat c ones you need to stay clear of.

na if there that bad they get catb damaged, a small amount of damage to a chassis leg etc is nothing, easily repaired, same with inner wings, it only takes a v small crease or a leg pushed in an inch and they have to quote for a whole unit hence unec to repair, dont get me wrong some are fooked but 90 percent v easily repaird, just need to take someone who knows there stuff with you.

i repair and sell a fair bit salvage as do my mates
