Happy Birthday NHS
60 years ago the NHS was started. OK it's not perfect, but it's a fantastic service that we are lucky to have in this country.
don't know that i've had my money's worth yet as i've only ever used it to be born, a few x-rays and a few GP appointments, but who knows when you might need it and how they could one day save your life
any good stories about how they may have saved your life or you've been glad of the service?

I know people knock it and I've seen some shockingly dirty areas of hospitals but when I had cancer over the first 12 months and following 5 years they were absolutely spot on. The level of care from the nurses was amazing.
Edited to add they were also absolutely spot on with our daughter; an emergency C-section and when she had a viral infection at 3months
We've definatley had our moneys worth
Happy birthday!

Our NHS is the envy of the world
Think we take it for granted sometimes, at the end of the day it's people who keep the service going - i shadowed an ENT surgeon for a few days when i worked for a medical charity and i personally couldn't go to work everyday and see some of the things they do or have to tell people how sick they are, then come home and get on with my life. Really don't know how they do it
PS my GP saved my life when i was 5 had the bad type of meningitis, meningococcal septicaemia - usually people who have had it lose fingers, toes, sight or hearing etc cos of the blood poisoning. Think because I was treated so quickly, i didn't suffer anything like that

all good positive stories so far
the foundation of the NHS was one of the things that made, and still do make, Britain Great imo we get a lot of people moaning about high taxes etc, but free health care for ALL is imo something worth paying for
