Amazing times.

Does this mean Harvey is going a little more "mainstream" and promoting the company through these sort of events?

Rich,
I think it is more a case of "maybe I'll do a few track days"now its a case of "this really is fun"
as you know Harvey done alot of rallying many years agoand wasn't really interested in the hastle and grief involved in doing some serious motorsport.Think he's surprised himself in how much fun you can have at open track days

ahh i see.sorry didnt introduce myself.so are you part of the family?sorry, aint got the foggiest.

yeah the old girl looks a million times better on the comps.but i had to put the standards on due to the very bad weather we had when i had to drop her off.didnt fancy trying the ao48's in that bad conditions.got alot to sort out on her.
will see how she fairs on the rollers.i want back to her former glory.she's a solid clean car(not concours) just needs her get up and go again.its embarressing.

the fact i cant pull away from a 320bhp car.its should be 450bhp and is making 32psi.but wont lay it on the road.trouble is its been to a few others since harvey and im not 100 per cent what theyve done but the engine sounds fine,no smoke etc but wont put it through wheels.
harvey isnt sure why and neither am i.so its going on the rollers to see what its losing through transmission.then we can go from there.

not harveys fault in the slightest, and im grateful for the time he has spent on it.its just annoying not being able to find out why yet.

Okay, a few ideas to check.
1. Whilst it is on the rollers, see if the intake hose to the turbo is collapsing (or you can check this by running the car briefly up the road without a filter on?). This would give the feeling of the car being strangled.....
2. Did the woodruff key get checked, as obviously this can allow the cam timing to be constantly variable and would make it feel slow?
3. What is the ignition values you are seeing - does the manifold get a glow on (I'm just seing if it is running excessive retard)?

I can't think of anything else .

it broke it on the last run where he had put softer tyres on
his 0-60 times were better on the hard tyres though !

the reason it is "stronger" when hollow is because the hollow tube will twist before it breaks !
its the same as grp a driveshafts they were designed to twist and not snap !
this prop obviously twisted a bit much

the 'collapsing in on itself' is just a side of effect of it twisting, not the failure mode.

it's hard for me to expain to a non-engineer, but i'll have a go if you imagine the propshaft being solid but only being 2mm in diameter, it would not be able to resist twisting much would it? each mm that you add to the outside increases the resistance to twisting by the increase cubed. so by the time you get to the outside of a 100mm tube, the outside that is 50mm from the centre is 125,000 times (50 cubed) stronger than the first 1mm.

so you can see that there's not much point having the shaft solid, as the weight in the centre is doing very little. obviously this is simplified, and a 100mm hollow tube will not be as strong as a 100mm solid one, it will be about as strong as 66mm one, but much lighter.

that combined with the fact that a slid centre promotes earlier internal cracking so in fact your 100mm hollow one is less likely to fail than your 66mm solid one by a long shot!

if it was solid it would only have one shear point, where as when it is hollow it has two
