Question Is this true about police T5's ?

In the ebay ad the guy states

not alot of people are aware that these cars do have extras as standard than the normal t5 and i have a brochure on my computer from volvo telling you what they have i.e reinforced chassis , uprated brakes, better abs, more power ect.
the link http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2002-VOLVO-V70...QQcmdZViewItem

Is there any truth in this as I've never heard this before and we all know how truthful people on eBay can be

Cheers
Steve

There are "police spec brakes" but i believe this to only be pads.

Im sure someone from here who has been on the volvo forums will know more.

No they're not, as they need to be reliable . The only time they are tuned is the sanctioned manufacturer's tuning the same as available to the GP . A mate used to carry out some of the servicing on the police Cossies and he "claimed" that he used to make sure the car's had lower than standard boost .

However, they do often have beefed up suspension to carry all the equipment around that the traffic cars have to.

utter bollocks.

Some do have uprated suspension for bigger loads, some do have better brake pads, and the door hinges are altered, 100 points to anyone who guess' what for.

I was only putting up what I knew, we don't know it all do we! No need to say I was talking 'utter bollocks'

When i worked at skoda, we used to supply West Midlands Police with Octavia VRS 5drs and Estates.

Totally standard cars in every way, even the white ones (which skoda would only build in white with an official police order) were as standard as the civillians road cars.

The only extras the police workshop used to fit was a bigger battery and a split charging system so they could run all the electrics etc etc

DEFINATELY happens with police vauxhalls often that they are a specific mismatch of parts for the police, so an SRi with a VXR engine etc.

Less common is them having parts which dont appear elsewhere on the range at all, like the brake pads, but again it does happen.

Im yet to see any proof of engine modifications first hand though, so I think thats a myth.

SOME police care ARE tuned/modified. Certainly not all though, probably the minority.

N.I. pigs had Omega V6s with turbo conversions a few years ago. Courtney or someone did them, remember seeing the pics.

Round here we have had Golf VR6 slammed and with quad headlamps, Galaxy slammed and on Dymags, and currently got a FQ360 or whatever they called, and some REALLY low Merc and BMW motorway cars. I mean properly slammed as still on little stock wheels.

We're talking "engine tuning", as we have already establised that the suspension / brakes etc is usually modified to take the extra weight etc. However, I understand that some forces do use "siezed" assets from drug dealers etc, so I would imagine that given the description of the cars you describe, they seem to fit this bill ?

We had a chavved up VR6 one in taunton years ago, I nearly raced it once but spotted them in uniform, saw it around quite a lot after that.
Was quite a cool car actually, lol

i was informed by someone who certainly should know that the met police turned down the opportunity to have faster tuned cars built specifically for them by ford/cosworth when the 3 door came out because it was felt that it would be too dangerous to the public.

as far as tuned cars go there was also a twin turbo jag (xjs i think) at Epsom police station for a number of years.

It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it runs good on regular gas
