Would a largened penny washer help with that at all Stu? Or am I confused, and getting my terminology the wrong way round?

im curious as id like to be making 2.2 bar from 4k without surge. my head has only had lite porting and a polish and am wondering if it could be my inlet manifold causing the surge between 4 - 5k rpm. if i can be certain itl cure it i wana put on small turbo escos inlet and remap with a bd15 inl cam and be on full boost straight away.

how certain can i be its my 4x4 inlet causing the surge and not the head ?

would using a GT30 have the same problem? Does having a different cam such as BD14 get round the problem somewhat?
