Default Aftermarket Tacho on DIS

Does anyone know how you can convert or make work a Tacho that only have a switch for 4 ,6 and 8 cylinder engines work on a DIS system since wouldn't you need to set it too 2 cylinders or could you wire it into the standard tacho feed some how etc, Cheers SEB

if you can pick up on a std rev counter feed, a std coil rev counter normally reads double.

setting the rev counter you have to 8 cylinder, will make the gauge expect twice the firing strokes of a 4 cylinder engine....making it correct.

if you can only pick up on one amp,(depending on your set up) run it at 4 cylinder setting, as you will be only getting half the signal, so again this makes it correct

So the standard tacho feed will still only read 2 cylinders and the standard rev counter converts it yeah?

The 8 cylinder option sounds good, will give it a test tommorrow, Cheers for the help

the std feed should read all cylinders, but because its wasted spark, its doulble what you would normally get.

if you car is waisted spark as std, the stock rev counter will be in 8 cylinder mode, or half the signal somehow.

an 8 cylinder tacho will then read correct...
