C20XE into MK4 Astra?
i know this question belongs on a Vauxhall forum, no other site is quite as helpfull as this one, and it takes weeks to get a sensible answer over on Migweb
im sure someone on here will have the relavant knowledge to guide me slightly.
Here goes.....
After a bit of a quick fitting guide to dropping the C20XE engine into a MK4 astra.
what engine mounts will be required?
what driveshaft, or hub configuration is going to be required?
Will the 308mm brake kits fit under the 16" MK4 astra SRi alloys (4 stud)
and the hubs currently have the brake caliper carriers as part of the hub, will the hubs directly change for ones from a SRi model?
Many thanks.
and just incase, for extra info, the vehicle is a MK4 astra van 1.7dti.

spoke to Chip several weeks ago about this neil, he had a good offer of letting me look around his friends already converted MK4 C20XE.
but looking at engine mounts in the car doesnt really tell me which ones to get to make it all fit.
Just a quick bit of fun for the van Neil, cossie is going to take a back seat for the rest of this year mate, will be wrapped up when its finished being painted and then forgotten about for a while.

The drivers side mount isnt just a case of bolting on a mount, this is why you could do with looking at it really, you have to go through the cambelt cover with it.
Other 2, assuming you are on a bigblock motor, you can just use the standard gearbox ones, and use the gearbox again too for that matter, so hence use all the original shafts etc.
Getting the wiring into the cabin is a PITA as well, you arent spoilt for choice on where to route it.

I had started a thread on mig Kelv but typically no fooker replied
A few things I need you to check on your engine, has it gone a throttle cable or is it fly by wire ?, is the gearbox cable operated or is that hydraulic.
Yes it can be done but its possibly not as simple as I first thought

Kelv...
Do you remember when i had this?
with this
300BHP with daft torque!
Was the very 1st MK4 with C20 LET, TV featured etc
IIRC the engine slips in a treat, just have to modify timing cover as the engine mount locates there?
308's will i think go under SRi rims , but double check.
Hardest part was wiring the electrics , so everything worked, i think i struggles with the temp gauge? Again so long ago, but can put you in touch with a vaux specialist who could help you!

Speak with Dave, he's done a few now

Cheers again Chip, may well take you up on that offer, will make contact as and when im home again.
James, as said on the phone mate, ill check those bits and come back to you.
wont be home for a good few days tho but will be on it as son as i am.
Karl, i do vaguely remember it, think you were just selling it when i first got to know yourself and Caroline.
cheers for the linky, ill be checking a few bits that James has mentioned first then possibly make contact with Dave.
quite empted just to drop the van off somewhere and pick it up a week or so later finished - easy option
