Default steering wheel problem"urgent"

Hi people took my steering wheel off earlier and now it seems as if the bolt isn't long enough to thread onto the column.Its a facelift model tried adjusting the steering in/out but to no avail.Can anyone help me?

Have you put the keys in the ignition and turned them to disengage the steering lock?

going to bed now,up half 5 tomorrow morning for work.fogot to mention i had to pull my clocks out as the speedo drive was playing up thats why the steering wheel came off

Does it have a type of 'slip' joint in the column down by the pedals? Mates old Fiesta had a sort of upside down Y shaped thing that dropped when we did his, took us ages to work out what had happened.

if its an adjustable column thread the bolt in the end and try pulling the column up, then try and refit the wheel

you need to pull the coloun, get a few threads on, as you tighten the colum will pull up

All done used a set of water pump pliers to pull the shaft up.Cheers for everyones help
