Car Thieves Tried to Pinch My Car

Car Thieves Tried to Pinch My Car
The only time I bring my car out over night and some low life scum tries to nick it!
Got woken up at 0330 this morning with a police car infront of my car and a dog handler round the car.
I will admit I did shit it thinking that I had been caught speeding at first.
The neighours called the police when they heard voices outside where two hooded lads were trying to start the car.
The police arrived within 3 minutes. That has to be a record. Unfortunately they scarpered upon hearing the car come round the corner. The dog couldn't track them properly as it was raining.
No finger prints either as they wore gloves.
Luckily the only damage is the steering cowling that they ripped off. The indicator stalk etc was twisted round but is now back in place.
Note to self that if I ever rebuild a car again. Make sure the alarm siren is set to on. It is now!
Without the neighours and the quick response of the police; I could be a car down today.
Never leaving the car out again!

Thats bad mate, but lucky really as could have been worse. And well done to the neighbours! I think you owe them a bottle of bubbly mate.
I learnt to leave my car doors unlocked many hyears ago when i didnt have a garage to put them in. Better than having to replace the locks all the time and repair the damged door. As soon as they opened the door, they legged in as the alarm went off. Job done, and no damage.

Also it was a dog handler that came round to mine after i chased some car thieves down the road a few months back. He was here in about 2 minutes at the most! I saw them snooping around the top of my drive at 3am, then by the time id thrown some clothes on and sneaked around the corner to try and get them, they'd already got into the car over the road trying to start it! Should have seen their faces when i came steaming around the corner full pelt! One ran into a dead end and i soooo nearly got him!

At least they didnt do more damage.
I've had my mk4 broken into and a fiesta mk1 done years ago.
Despite the fact you can open either in minutes with no sign/damage whatsoever.
Be glad your theiving coonts had some small amount of coherent thought and didnt bend the door frame or lob a brick through a window.

Lucky 1 there mate, you can't have anything nice nowadays
I had someone try climb through the window the other night. I don't think he realised I was sitting in the fucking room at the time

You're a lucky, lucky man!!
If they were joyriders they wouldn't have believed their luck if they got it started and had it away.
Don't you use a disklok too?

We once turned the proximity sensors off on the XR2i which was a big mistake as, had they been on, the fool who ripped the door lock to pieces wouldn't have bothered trying... as soon as he got the door open the sirens started blaring and he ran off. Best £300 I ever spent was on the Toad Alarm I have fitted.

i've had front garden visitors too in the past
frist it was the indicators out to rewire them
then it was the door locks
then it was the window
then it was the steering cowling
then they were pushing it down the road
all the time, my old man was out the window on the phone to the police and they knew this, but they just carried on fucking around with the car
good responce from the police in your case though
