Default Cossie too loud - how to quieten it?

Whats the best way to reduce the exhaust noise of my cossie? Just moved to a really quiet road and feel a bit self-concious with it sounding like a sherman tank!

Will changing from cone filter to standard airbox make much difference?

Also, will adding another silencer do much and will it knacker the performance? Its only a stage 1.

Cheers.

Airbox and silencer will definitely help you....if it's stage one then you'll be fine with an extra box, the magnex systems are fairly quiet, although hard to come by.

you can also get 'plugs' made up that reduce the size of the tailpipe, obviously they can be removed as and when you need to (they are held in place by a screw).

Thats great. I'll get an airbox and look into this plug thing. Anyone know where you can get them?

I wouldn't have thought a filter would make any difference if your just pottering along, only when your giving it the beans will it be noisy.

not sure where, but you could have one made up, summat like this in the pic below (the grey thing at bottom of pic) adding a silencer may be a better solution though.

That's the Blitz Nur Spec exhaust, i had one on my 22b, THE BUNG just screws inside of the tail-pipe, does make the car quieter for sure, but a little more raspy..

Trouble is i've been starting work at 3am lately and a cossie is pretty loud in the middle of the night in a really quiet road. Keep setting the bloody alarm off as well which ain't great

When I first moved to my new home the neighbours complained that I had the Esc Cos warming up for 10-15mins each morning around 8am... Some of them said it made their house rattle

I didn't let it warm up for so long and explained that the oil needed to warm up. Never had a complaint since cause I brought a daily runner

where you moved to, anywhere local?

you can get quieter exhausts, just ring up an exhaust place and tell them what youre after

Rolls - people kept trying to nick my motor off my drive so I gave up and stored it at my parents until we moved. We moved to Sevenoaks last Friday. Very nice but it is very very different to living on Mottingham Road. We don't even have street lights in our road.
