Here we go. A long story but basically i advertised my rst for spares or repair as i didn't have the time or money to repair it. Had few offers but thought for the money i got offered i'll just keep it and try fix it when i can. Bought a block in the mean time and got engine finished and in the car.

I got a call from a guy who saw the ad (that i forgot was still advertising) and he offered me a restored capri. I wasn't that interested but after he sent me the link for the ad i was quite impressed. He phoned me for 2 days solid saying are we doing it cos i'm on holiday monday and need to do it asap! After several calls and txts about the 2 cars we agreed to do it. He wanted me to get the car to Birmingham so i said i cant afford it we'll leave it. He said ok i'll come to you and can you give me £50 towards it. I said that is ok.

He wanted to come on the friday and asked if i could do some more of the engine. I said no problem i'll do as much as i can. Unfortunately the mrs was working so i was looking after are 3 month year old. Txt him at 2 o'clock (he said he was leaving at 3) to tell him i couldn't get engine finished but he could come saturday so i had more time. He said dont worry i'm on the way leave the engine. All that needed doing was water pipes and turbo and manifold.

Since then he has said engine is fooked (after 2 days of fiddling with it). I was honest as i could be and as far as i knew it was good (as i was doing it for myself anyway). He wanted me to pay for a new engine and although i know i should say hard luck i agreed but bit skint at the mo. I said i'll try and sort it as soon as possible and he said no problem. Today he is txting me saying if you dont get me engine asap i'm coming to get my car and you can pay expenses for the truck!

I'm still offering to help him out but everyone i know saying tell him its his hard luck.

i've been as honest as i possibly can and in my opinion he probably fooked the engine himself. I dont want the hassle. I got 3 kids (including 1 baby) and dont want hassle outside my house.

Have i got a leg to stand on if it goes any further?

as it happens the capri has actually got a leaky rad so i just ordered another one. He told me it was a1 apart from a split in roof and seat. The roof is really shagged but also only 1 door locks works, rad is leaking, dash is buggered, lots and lots of screws missing and the car has deffo not been restored. It is clean but it just had a respray and thats it. He said it start first time and it doesn't. Takes ages after several attempts!! I haven't moaned once

Maybe it's time you started to moan buddy. Let him know the faults with the Capri.

I know it's not a nice thought thinking a team of heavys might come knocking on the door (especially with kids) but don't let him threaten you. I had some steroid filled streak of piss saying he was going to put my house windows in but he didn't do fuck all. Well, yet...

If he turns up at the house, don't answer the door and phone the police.

For now whenever he phones just pass him over to your customer services. i.e hang up.

hasnt got a leg to stand on mate; next time he texts you just say you've informed the police of his threats to collect the Capri and if you have the v5 which was signed by him and you've sent it off then you are the legal owner of the Capri - if he happens to turn up with a truck to take the Capri away just phone the police and tell them someone is attempting to steal your car....they'll be round in no time with the blues on

As said if you advertised it as "spares or repairs" then tell him thats why you sold it as spares or repairs because you didnt know or could'nt guarantee the condition of the engine so if it cant be repaired then it's to be used for spares end of story. And if he starts with the threats keep all the text and phone the police and tell/show them.

thanks guys. I've kept all the txts for that reason. I haven't got the capri log book cos he has to send that. I dont know if he has but i have signed it with my details. I have the green slip

I agree with all of the above, although sadly you made the mistake of saying you would sort an engine, so now saying you wont makes you a bit of a cunt too, your mistake there of course was not saying "sorry to hear that but its beyond my control, it was sold as spares or repair with no guarentee" in the first place when he moaned.

Although you DID of course mean you would buy him another "spares or repair" engine not a working one

thanks guys. I said i would get him money or an engine after he told me the one in there was knackered although i'm sure he has done something to it. I haven't said i wont sort him one so he'll just have to be patient.

What you do is ask him to show you the warrenty you supplied for the vehicle and only after you have seen that will you rectify any problems that are covered within...

When he says you didn't give him a warrenty, thats the point you tell him to count his loses and fuck off!

Thrush that is a very good point!! We have resolved the issue now. I have offereed a small sum towards it as a gesture and he seems happy with that. I have kept all the texts aswell. I clearly stated I dont want any more hassle so its basically see you later.

This is why I alsways supply a hand written "reciept" with every car I sell that clearly states date, time car reg, vehicle details, sellers name, buyers name and in big fuck off letters CAR IS SOLD AS SEEN WITH NO COMEBACKS OR WARRENTY OFFERED. Then I and the buyer both sign it, so if they ever try anything, thats all I need to tell em to fuck off!
