at over a fiver a gallon so about 7 quid
twelve times
Thats 84 quid
Then if you have 2 drinks its another six quid, twelve times, which is 72 quid
add in a main course and a dessert for a tenner and its another 120 quid
thats 276 quid
So realistically if the 17 quid a year is an issue, you REALLY cant afford to be going anyway IMHO.
If my choices are:
its going to cost me 276 quid in petrol/food drink and the club has no funds
or 293 in petrol/food/drink/fees and the club has funds to survive
Then personally im well up for paying the 17 quid if thats what the club's survival requires.

I missed this earlier.
For your Ł5 a year you will get access to the show stands we have at whatever shows we attend during the show season (Nat day you have to be a paid up RSOC member, thats the only show with restrictions)
Also in the pipeline that will be ready for January is a new discount scheme within Surrey Group which we are working towards at the moment.
You also get your Xmas buffet each year at the December meet, paid for by the club. Along with a raffle.
A chance to win Car of the Night which is ran over the summer months.
Also a car sticker for all new members who sign up to the club.

I got the price of drinks for the pub
I got the price of food from the pub
I got the urban MPG of a cossie based on experience
I got the number of months in the year from a calender
I got the 20 mile average distance from taking an average based on the people who I know who attend and where they live
Hope that helps
Bottom line is, no matter where I got them from, you cant help but agree that if you give a toss about 1 quid a month or 5 quid a year, you are going to have far bigger issues

Seriously mate, blatantly all Helen and Dave are trying to do is ensure that the club continues, an aim to which they are giving a LOT of their own time and finances, and they would just like a little help from people in the form of a quid a month for a newsletter to go into club funds so they can manage to fund stuff like a buffet at xmas or possibly even build up enough club funds that they can run a little local show or something.
IE its ALL stuff in the intereted of the club and its members!

I'm going to try and keep it to useful companies for Fords and RS's, we have always had Ford's on board and Alex is the main man to see for any ford bits you need.
Any ideas of companies you would like to see on the discount scheme please PM me them, i will contact them and see how we go.

If he isnt referring to you then I certainly am, if you have been a member of both clubs for as long as 12 years, why on earth would you moan about a quid a month to help 1 of them keep its head above water financially?
Seriously mate, blatantly all Helen and Dave are trying to do is ensure that the club continues, an aim to which they are giving a LOT of their own time and finances, and they would just like a little help from people in the form of a quid a month for a newsletter to go into club funds so they can manage to fund stuff like a buffet at xmas or possibly even build up enough club funds that they can run a little local show or something.
IE its ALL stuff in the intereted of the club and its members!

So you are happy to pay the 1 pound a month to support the club, but are also still of the "why the fuck should I pay a fiver a year membership" mindset you were earlier in the post?
If so, thats fine mate, problem solved as I believe that you can attend the meets and pay your monthly pound, and simply choose not to be an official paid up member with the fiver a year fee and not have the buffet which that fee pays for

for the next 4 years i wont be able to go to xmas buffet as on late shift so that means paying for something i wont be able to go to
if everyone pays a pound per night i cant see a problem with that

No it was not Paul ! The bitching towards me has gone on since day 1 of me being in Surrey Group ! In fact Zoe's sarcastic and unwanted comments towards myself and Dave started before i was in Surrey Group.
No i dont see a problem in you getting Middlesex up and running again at all, just spend the money on what members what and not what your own little clicky group in the club wants.

We've not been out and about for the best part of 18months as far as the car scene is concerned due to other commitments. These commitments are coming to an end soon and i would like to say that myself and Cola might frequent the middlesex meet on occasion as we did a year or so ago. Last time we went it was at the Coy Carp and i think Sassy was there with Rob (diamonds) and MrS1 whom i met briefly... ive not read the thread in its entirity but im guessing its not down the Coy anymore nor run by the previous people. Who runs it now? and is it worth going? or shall i sell the RS? lol

Shame as the coy carp was a really good venue IMHO I used to enjoy that one, food was pretty reasonable too

I actually agree with you there.
It just doesnt do ANY good mentioning it.
I understand fully that Helen feels that she has a genuine greivance, and im not in a position to say that she shouldnt have or anything like that, but I just think she should try to be the bigger person and not mention it either on here or at meets ever again, in the interest of BOTH clubs TBH!
I like going to Surrey and I like going to Middlesex, and im sure like many others the last thing I want to see is a fallout (or failure to reconiliate) from the top of both clubs that leaves me having to choose between them, especially as I have friends at both.
