I personally would disagree with you there the amount of feul that farmers use is alot if it was a busy farmer that could cost them a outlay of up to £20,000 a year. Also its a bit like claiming vat back there always trying to get out of it.

i know someone that was caught using it when they stopped him in a random road check. i think its customs and excise that set them up in laybys with the police in attendance to stop mainly vans and commercial vehicles randomly to dip the tanks and check. he got a £500 fine for a first offence and gets randomly called in by phone where they check again and he shows his diesel receipts. second offence can forfeit your vehicle .

ive been told you can buy tablets to drop in that nuetralises the colour. ive also been told that filtering it through a loaf of bread causes the dye to stick to the bread although that second one sounds like it could be an urban myth.

Yellow pages, look up local fuel oil suppliers, ring and they deliver.

You can order it from any fuel oil suppliers in a 45 gallon drum. We do so for our diesel welding sets / fork-lift . It is your responsibility on how you use it, so no identity card required AFAIAA, but that is probably because it is delivered to a business address for us.

You then just need a ball valve, a barrel nipple, 90° elbow and a drum stand to put it on, and then you can dispense at your liesure .

Red diesel is legal in your car,as long as you keep recipts and pat tax's on it at end of the year,
bio diesel should not be used in vehicles with mechanical fuel pumps

and yes there is a powder that cleand red diesel,it,s used in the oil industry for cleaning drill pipe

a bloke i know went to prees heath motor auctions in his old auctioning car a 205 diesel and the plod and customs were there, they dipped his tank found red and were going to seize the car unless he coughed up 500 knicker there and then no questions or exeptions.
the waggon was already there taking vehicles away.
not sure about this second chances , i even saw the recipt they gave him.
a mate with a petrol station who sells red is supposed to take down vehicle registrations, and the reason is so when put into the computer up you come as a potential suspect for a 500 knicker kicking

so how can they issue fines at the roadside? theyed need to wait until the end of the tax year to see if youve declared it on your tax return?

Had a convoy of 50 lorries coming past me on the bristol ring road as i was approaching, they were certainly getting there point accross with the police presence!.
