Default heatwrap! advantage/disadvantages...

im thinking about heatwrapping my manifold, but not sure if its worth it as ive heard that it makes them prone to cracking, is this true?

i heatwrapped my manifold before on the escort in my sig, but didnt keep it long enough to find out..

its a ashley 4 branch manifold that ive got, same as the one i did before..

It won't cause cracking, and makes a massive difference to under bonnet temps.
Soak it in water before applying though.

Won't cause cracking? You sure about that? Also, what about increased heat-soak in head, which could lead to valve failure?

Im opting to go the other route now.

Protect the parts around the exhaust manifold from the heat rather than the manifold itself.

The only thing i would wrap would be the downpipe from the turbo elbow backwards.

The gains on an N/A car are so small on a basic spec motor that I really wouldnt bother.

Don't heat wrap that ashley manifold it will crack several xr2 lads of had this problem & if its a new manifold ashley won't honour the guarantee because of it. You'll find it starts cracking on the welds 1st.
