what power on std head..???
.....asked about cams (but bit of a gost town )....now asking whats the most power u can expect out of a std head..???...(with what cams)...cheers.... Pete

You will start to suffer from surge at higher boost,i dont think cams will help as you can only get so much air through the ports before they need opening up.On a t34.63 the cossie can take all its boost on std head but on a T4 it will surge at over 1.5bar which i guess is 410ish bhp.

................why i'm asking is.......................my tuner says my car is a good 380bhp.............sound................but it pisses 400+ on the rollers...........I WANT MORE.............but do i really need head work..???.........

I would say yes, you may manage to get a bit more power but you will be stressing parts, by getting the head done it will make more power with less stress on the engine.

I think if your near the 400 bhp mark Pete you will end up getting very little gains for each extra psi of boost as the head will become restrictive. I know its more exspensive but with head work you will get more power for the same boost and have less stress on the engine.

cheers neil..........i know porting would be better..but if i can get say....20-40bhp extra....with just "bigger stuff"......that would be good.......(i dont belive mine is 420)

your a class act, most of us find our cossies under braked at stg 3 power, here you are at 400, wanting more with std ones...you must be a hell of a driver

remember, the wilder the cam, generally you gain a few bhp, but loose some torque on the way ...so consider how the car will drive, especialy off boost with your lower comp

im just trying to make you see, making your car more powerfull,and potentialy more unreliable,wont necessarily make it faster,
its about creating a complete package, brakes, drivetrain, handling.
400bhp, could be devestatingly quick when combined with the rest...
look at marcos rs2000....std power, but my old spec 370bhp saff struggled to stay near him at coombe..well i couldnt round corners...
i wasnt digging at you...ive just learnt it the hard way, and waisted lots of money on the way,to acheive something that could have cost half as much if id done it to start with

........ok fella..................but mine is a road car......i've also learned lessons and spent money on things not needed...........(coil overs).....but i'm more than happy with my brakes,turbo......and my front diff has been plated.....but i never...(never)...launch the car........and the only time i've ever done a box is when /after i've fluffed a 3rd gear change.......(broken cog...gets worse etc).........front n back diffs have been fine so far and this box has lasted about 6k ...(..i'm not shy with the power..).....
