Default pc question(RAM)

ok my comp when i bought it ages ago came with 128DDR right, but it always red 120 on my comp whenever i looked.

anyway ive got some more memory today, two 256DDR modules, i could have just got one 512DDR module but it worked out 12 quid cheaper this way!!

put them both in and now it reads 504mb??
why am i losing 8mb all the time?

do u have an onboard graphics card? if so it may use that as its memory

as per boostmad, your losing 8mb of that memory to the video... as its a cheap onboard card that doesnt have its own memory...
