I have been doing a engine conversion and i have done all the loom but when i put the battry on and i turn the key the starter motor turns when my ignition is on. and it just stays on till i turn it all off. i think i must have the wireing on the starter motor wrong dose anyone have a little diagram how this should be

 

For it to turn over with the key in posision 2 you must have an ignition feed going down the +50 (trigger connection on starter motor) when the ignition is on.

 

do you know what colour that is

 

From memory i think its black with a red tracer stripe

 

Black with a red trace indeed it is on all fords of the Sierra and Escort era
