Car v Train
Anyone with a maffs mind fancy helping see what is more cost effective?
I've just started a new job and its right near the train station so.....
My car is a 3.0 V6 Diesel and diesel is £1.29per litre near me.
Its 22miles round trip by car
and
Dartford to Woolwich Arsenal is £3.20 return per day on the chuff chuff
So over the course of a week what would work out more cost effective?

Don't need a maffs mind to work that out mate!
If you add in depreciation on the barge, parking, servicing, repairs, tyres and the propensity to want to drive somewhere each lunchtime or give people lifts home, I'd say the train everyday!
Plus you can put the time you'd normally be sat concentrating on the car in the jam in front of you to better use. Read a book, do sudoku or rub yourself up next to other commuters for cheap thrills.

1 Gallon is roughly 4.5 litres.
So a gallon is approximately £5.80.
Parkers figures for your car are 37 MPG.
That works out at 16p [15.6 something recurring] a mile JUST FOR FUEL for your car.
The train is £3.20 for 22 miles.
That works out at 15p [14.5454 etc] a mile.
Is that right?
