Could be a Flash player issue - go to http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/downl...&promoid=BUIGP and make sure that it's up to date (just re-download it, it won't do any harm).

May have to, but always check a plug-in first

Should it really need reinstalling though when my PC is only a few months old?

In an ideal world, no - but IE and Windows have so many cumulative updates, it can get its knickers in a twist occassionally... re-install of IE isn't a guraranteed fix though...

Try the 'non-plugin/standalone installer' version of Flash Player (after running the Adobe uninstaller again):

If the ActiveX Control for Flash Player fails to install, download the executable installer.

If the information above has not resolved the issue, download the executable Flash Player installer here:
  • Download and unzip Install_Flash_Player_9_ActiveX.zip.
Save this installer to your desktop, close out all applications, and run the installer. This may help if you are having trouble with the ActiveX installation from Adobe.com. To confirm that Flash Player has installed successfully, please visit: www.macromedia.com/software/flash/about/.
If that doesn't work, you might have to try what Stu said....

What OS are you on - XP? And have you changed any pop-up blocker/spyware/firewall settings or programs recently?

Weird seeing this thread as my pc had also stopped playing videos on the various sites.... YouTube, PhotBucket, etc....

I'm also on Vista (Ultimate) and had to readjust my firewall as Windows and Norton battle each other (always seems to reset after a reboot) but sorted that and.......

Done the above and it works a treat now

Ah, Vista..... LOL

Lee - open youtube and start a video as normal, then right click the flash video and click 'settings.'

Then select the left tab and uncheck 'hardware acceleration' and retry (close and restart IE).

If Vista won't let you uncheck the hardware acceleration, try this:

Go to appearance and personalization in Vista and adjust screen resolution.
Reduce colour to 16 bit temporarily. You can now go and uncheck the box in
flashplayer at youtube etc. Then simply go back and reset the colour to 32
bit.
Oh, and make sure you're signed into Vista as user with Admin rights if you have multiple accounts on the PC.
