charge for cheque bounce?
Hello i have a cheque from something i sold on ebay but have not cashed it as they included no details and i sold a number of items for the same price. So i left it at the side. Its 2 months old now the buyer left me a neg saying i did not send item. well i couldn;t as far as i was concerned they had not paid and when i asked them if they intended to pay they did not reply.
Now due to ebays unfair feedback scheme i can't leave them a neg even tho it was all there fault and they deserve a neg,
what would happen if i cashed this cheque but they have canceled it? will i get charged or is it them who get charged? How much?
thanks

I've had quite a few where someone just sends a cheque in an envelope but didn't they have any details held on file with E-BAY? I always bank the cheques asap and then mail them if they don't. It's amazing how many people will just stuff a cheque in an envelope and just hope you can work out who it's from.
I've only had one cheque bounce I think, but I can't remember paying a fee for it, although it was quite a while ago now so I could be wrong.

didnt you put 2 and 2 together and consider the unknown cheque that was for the same amount as the item they bought was perhaps theirs so infact they had paid?

yes there is, if i get charged for the bounced cheque i could loose what ever that fee is!
They have already said they paid and i not sent items, so as far as im concerned i have right to keep that money. They did not contact me and ask where item was either! Just left a neg.
Anyway i just had a look at this cheque, and its a counter cheque from abbey. Its printed with the amount and not hand written so i am wondering if this has already been taken from her account and is like garanteed to clear, and thats why she thinks she has paid for the item?

no, as i said i sold a number of items for that amount, i sell approx 90 items a week, about 70 of these are for the amount sent in this cheque. I have over 100 unpaid items currently awaiting to be closed or paid for, i emailed a couple of the buyers that live in the area the postmark came from, and said buyer did not respond, so how is that my fault? How is ebays new feedback system fair on seller? answer, its not!

they infact have not yet paid for an item as they did not include there details as stated in my selling policy.
They have stated on my feedback that i have the money, this makes me look like a crook, when infact i do not have there money. I cannot remove the feedback due to gaybay, so i feel i have the right to keep the money and not send item, they have stated i have it afterall.
just to let you all know the cheque is only for £10.

Cash the cheque as said it is NOT you who gets charged.
It is NOT theft either, as you have no intention of "PERMANENTLY DEPRIVING", this is the BASIS of theft, if they are too stupid to help you, because THEY did not read the conditions of sale it is thier loss.
I am annoyed when I buy something and the seller has no details on file WTF, ebay should insist on it, nearly everyone I buy from I have to contact to ask for address.

Not good.
Ebay is getting worse.
If I was you I would contact the user, obtain the address and say youa re prepared to send out the goods again if they mutually withdraw the feedback, bite your tongue but it gets rid of the negative feedback, cash the cheque and resend the goods.
You have nothing to lose.

if the cheque has got his guarantee card number on the back it wont bounce anyway, and theres no way you would get charged.
if it hasnt, you are taking a risk that you might get charged a few quid. you coulud ring your bank and ask if there is any fee's for having a cheque bounced on your account
