Default power guesstimate please

right then , just finished a 31/2 year build on my cossie and went for a spin today to find any potential teething problems.

anyway it turns out that my boost controller wont play ball and was only giving me 1.5 bar.

so estimates please on a standard engine with a harvey spec t38, 500 cooler, mongoose etc as it felt quick but not that quick

stu map in ecu on 83lb siemens als, lc, closed loop, coilpack etc.

tbh i thinks the combination of 235 eagles , an adjustable beam and a quaife atb on a hot day has me doubting the power ,

the fecking traction is unbelievable for a 2wd car.

max power depends on your exhaust housing; they normally have. 48 (standard), .55 or .63 stamped on them

.63 i would expect to see around 380; .55 360-370, standard .48, 350ish

just wind the actuator rod in; you'll soon find the 1/2 bar

t38s have a .63....

t38s run a t4 compressor wheel aswell, harveys t38 uses a machined t34 compressor housing, so externally, it looks like a t34, internally its more like a t4

yeah, richie makes 400bhp,

if you get bored, stu can map huge boost spikes into the t38..like 3.2bar iirc

not on a standard lump??? would think a standard lump would die with 2 bar held boost?

i am bored. and after only ten miles . tbh im not sure if im getting too much traction or if its down to the cam timing being out.

im on a hks evc but might tryb the amal valve tomorrow to se what it produces . will try the timing first though.

dont get me wrong, its quick as it is but it takes quite a while to spool up.

will see what tomorrow brings .

but to put it into context ..... i hold the lc button at what im told is 4k (rev counter not back from speedy cables yet) dump the clutch and it just bogs down. no need for lc at all today. dumped the clutch at 6k and still no wheel spin just bog for a sec then spool

I thought a spike was only as soon as you come on boost then it would drop off and hold whatever you set it to? So a spike can't be all bad for a split seconds? Even 3 bar?

this is true but a standard cossie lump would self destruct at 3 bar no matter how quick i would think!

That missing half bar or even more would make it a different animal altogether which is why it might feel flat now.

dont underestimate a std yb...it would be more a case of the std engine being tired rather than not strong enough, give stu a new std engine, and a set of air injectors, i bet it could suprise a few people!

as i said earlier this is a stu setup and on a 1000 mile engine .

everything weight matched and dynamic balanced.

will grab an old amal valve now and see what it does for me .

i reckon im short of .4 of a bar off my max safe boost so hopefully it will make the difference

sorry peaks 1.9 bar boost by the way.

so even with 235's an a adj. beam, a T38 should be something like the above vid.
