Without wanting to start a huge arguement I don't think ZVH and Zetec turbo powered cars should be included. If you were to ask the most powerfull Cossie and somebody had put a 1000bhp Skyline engine under the bonnet of their Saph would it still be a Cossie?

Just imo

(*edited to add*) I don't want to take anything away from SOY, Sunny etc as their cars are awesome

As above, shouldn't be included, but Field Motorsport have a dyno'd ZVH (8 valve head) and it hit 404hp on the dyno (see pic below - note - was a differnet exhaust manifold to the pic...)

should be cvh head IMO if you must draw a line somewhere.

Though I'm not majorly against zetec as it's only a development of the cvh anyway isn't it? Ford did it for emmisions??

Should be CVH period.

The RST didn't come into the world sporting ZVH and Zetecs so if you put them in although the body is RS the engine isn't and however powerfull and impressive it may be I don't think it's a true RST anylonger. Saying that my next engine could very well be a Zetec Turbo

My opinion is, and has always been, that I have built a 1600CVH and could have just as easily built a 1900CVH or a 2.1 16v with what I have put into mine. I stuck with 1600CVH because I believe that should be a class on its own and thats what I wanted to be involved in.

Taking nothing away from the big power Zetec/ZVH boys though, these are awesome cars in their own right, but I still believe that if I were going to remove my CVH engine, it could just as easily be a Cossie engine going in its place, then with enough money it could be 500+bhp. But there lies many other issues, which is why I am happy with my 1600 8v and am only happy to be compared to cars with the same capacity.

Remember, that is all my opinion!!

it actually makes it harder to get power going zvh over cvh.. i.e you run into breathing restrictions earlier than with the 1.6cvh. i.e you need better head/turbo etc.

I think it was Karl that said the engine is classed by its head, so the ZVH boys can still be put into the same category as the CVH's.

I'm with most on this though, you should only categorise cars with the same capacity and block type.

To me an RST on the logbook is an RST. If you don't believe in modifying then put it back to 100% std. What makes me laugh is that everyone has an opinion and its the 1600CVH boys who always think it should be 1600CVH etc etc etc. Fact of the matter is our cars enter events as RST's and come back winning. 1) The event organisers say that they are RST's as we have log books to prove this and 2) For years magazine features also regard them as RST's for the same reasons. In a way it's a bloody good job these mags and shootout organisers agree with us on this, otherwise if all RST's were CVH then you might aswell stay home and watch the event as with the greatest respect I don't see the CVH RST's winning. Especially when we are up against 2.0 16v Rover's doing low 12's + 170mph all day. All I would say is that if you honestly want to travel all that distance to see all the usual 14/15 sec 1/4 miles with maybe a mid to high 13sec pass and 150mph to 160mph then do it. Like Christian said...it's only my opinion however remember my opinion is the one that counts as the event organisers and mags also share the same opinion so CVH boys.....

Neither did they come with steel cranks, fancy pistons modified heads and fancy manifolds. etc where do you draw the line ? For me the line stops at who has the most powerful RST with not ONE single mod whatsoever. That is the only true test of Fords ability, someone must have it... so as the first question asked .... WHO ?

All these others are modified cars and are not in the same class so they can all go in the pot to answer question 2 I respect them all
