I have lots of Halfords stuff, and it is good enough for most jobs! Also the Halfords Pro stuff had a lifetime guarantee - not sure if it still does, but expect so.

My vote is for Halford Pro stuff too.. every now and again they have massive discounts on the big collections, like £99 for a massive selection of tools.. worth waiting for!!

10K+ Poster!!
I use Snap On, Bergen and Blue Point tools, I've snapped quite a few of the heavier duty Halfords stuff so replaced them with something that shouldn't break.
The BIG Halfords set they do though is a bargain tool kit to keep in your car for all trackdays etc..

Halfords here too.
Make sure you get the Pro ones though!
I love having a trade card... cheaper tools, oil, batteries, bulbs, wipers, and spares ordered in such as brake discs, pads, shocks etc.
Join a certain club for 15 quid a year and you get one

mate i know snap on are dear but you get what you pay for with tools look on ebay i have had loads of snapon off there for a third of the price you'd pay on the van. i also like facom not as expensive as snapon but are a good choice when starting out. if you intend to make a career useing tools buy the best not second best as it will bite you in the ass. snapon tools hold there value halfords are disposeable and have no resale value so no point in building a big set of low value tools buy the best buy it onece. look for quality not quantity

Snap On are very expensive for what they are, and the quality/aftersales isnt what it used to be either.
Ive got a lot of Britool stuff, and Premier which are american. Both have lifetime warranty and have been 'me' proof ever since ive bought them! Ive only broke one Premeier Torx bit which was exchanged by my local agent without any quible.
Lifetime warranty on tools is great provided they honour it, its great saying it, but if they start to quibble when the time comes its too late i suppose.
Ive heard good stuff about the Halfords range, and they exchange them ok so i guess they would be worth a look too.

I got a bit of everything, mostly snap on and mac tools though. I use my stuff all day every day and the lifetime guarantees with those two companys are good, the stuff works and it feels nice to use. I have Halfords, KD, Craftsman, Britool etc as well though but usually these are the rare stuff like Whitworth, or bits that do specific jobs. Sometimes a cheap spanner can get you out of the shit because of the thinner material can get in somewhere a Mac knucklesaver won`t(which by the way are fuggin brilliant). Bluepoint do a great 3/8" and 1/4" drive kits at the moment which are really good price and top quality, it`s what our race kit is made of. If you go racing and a tool fails at the circuit you can go on the Snap on van and shout at the guy and it will get sorted, does the spotty 17 year old in Halfords really give a crap?

Atleast have a look at Halfords PRO tools, (note that the non Pro ones are NOT as good quality, nor have the lifetime garantee) you may be surprised at how good they are.
I have never heard of anyone having a problem when going in for a replacement, and come to think of it, I dont recall many people having to either

Testing the future
the main thing with tools is to use them correctly and not abuse them. for example, don't try and undo a stubborn nut or bolt with a ratchet - use the breaker bar that is made for the job

i broke the 1/2" extension bar buttony thing which meant that my T55 bit that was on the end didn't come off
walked in and get it swapped almost imediatly when i said to the guy behind the counter "hello mate, what's all this then?"
he gave me a funny look as if he was desperate to go to the toilet to drop last nights curry and went and got the manager
the manager went and opened up 1 set of extensinos and gave me one of them and another lot of the 1/2" torx bits and gave me the one i needed
the rest, as far as i could make out from what i overheard, are sent back to the head office site and repackaged with other sets that may be broken and the bits that are broken are sent back to get replaced
