At least LPG is index linked to unleadeds price. The pencilnecks cant do what they did with diesel and bump the price up disproportionately to petrol

Why diesel though? I mean it used to be the cheapest of the lot, it must cost less to produce (as far as refining goes)?

Plenty of garages near me charging over £1.30 a litre now, read in the paper it'll be £1.50/ltr by the end of the year! Getting ridiculous now, my work van's never been so bad on fuel lol!

not surprising when you consider a $1 on the oil price adds approx 1 pence to litre of fuel, but with a lead time of 3 to 4 weeks .
so expect plenty more increases .

All I can say is thank fuck I don't pay for my fuel Company pays for it

but it is a fucking joke! if it continues rising much more, the company will most likely refuse us the right to use the vans for personal use (we pay the company £20 a month "contribution to running costs" which basically means £20 worth of fuel, but most of us now use more than that a month cos of prices) which means I'm fucked, will have to buy a car, pay road tax, fuel, MoT, running costs etc... Can't afford it

One petrol station by me , on a daily basis, lowers his fuel in the mornings then raises the prices at nights knowing people dont always have the time for fuel in the mornings but have all the time in the world in the evenings, fooking tosser and i told him so.

Because a few years ago when diesels took a huge leap forward in technology and people actually started buying them as a viable alternative to petrol the govm'nt wanted their piece of the action so the duty on diesel went up. Also alot of company cars are diesel now and in most cases that's not paid for directly by the driver so they figure they can charge abit more.

my 2p..

you can use heating oil as well, has a yellow die, but less obvious than red if they do a paper dip on you!

we have been manipulated and conned, you buy a new economical diesel they take a slice of the money you pay for that, you did it to reduce your fuel bill, so they put the price of that up.It is all about fleecing the working man.Every time money changes hands they take a large slice. If you followed a pound around as it was spent by each person eventually as a slice is taken each time it is spent there would be 1 p left and guess who had had the rest

I went down to Eastbourne several weeks ago and gave it a bit of a blat down the motorway. Got as far as Brighton (20 miles from eastbourne) and ended up running on fumes so pulled into the first petrol station - 129.9!!! So only put a tenner in. Got to Eastbourne, and it was 119.9! 20 mile difference, 10p cheaper lol.

It is a joke.

Diesel's gone up about 40p in the last 8 months! I bought my focus 8 months ago thinking it'd be more economical than my petrol car... and i remember diesel being about 94p a litre.

Exactly, it's the way for them to make most money. Fair enough the price of a barrel of oil has gone up but why does the government have to add a percentage of tax onto this. As the price of oil goes up, so does the amount of money the government gets. There is no need for us to be paying as much as we do. Tax is about 75% of what we pay at the pumps and ten years ago pump price was about 55p a litre, now it's about £1.25 a litre. Do the maths.
