If you need the car for the running gear, what does that matter?

Well the fact it could be a stolen car bothers me, says it stolen recovered but it could just be stolen.

I am in Manchester so only about 1/2 hour away from the guy. Unfortunately i'm not mechanically minded enough to risk saying yes or no to the state of the engine and wouldnt really want to. However if you need a deposit or anything like that dropping off let me know and i'd be more than happy 2!

Nick.

Cheers Nick, will keep it in mind. Hopefully will manage to get someone to have a look.

Is there anyway of checking the engine number to see if its nicked? I know the car will prob be cool but wouldnt mind making sure i aint taking a hot engine and running gear.....

to be honest ... theres something when i look at it that doesnt seem right and i cant put my finger on it .. if your only back next wednesday it wont have ended by then ..

why dont you email the guy and ask him for a phone number... then phone him and just say before i set off can you start the car - if he does you can listen to it and see if theres anythin massively wrong with it ... if he wont theres odviously something wrong ..

I live in colne which is about 10-15 mins away. I will gladly have a look for you.
I think the guy means he has used a 1.8 lx donor to replace the stolen bits i.e. bumper grille etc.
I might of been interested myself, but have just bought a tuned 5.0 v8 camaro donor car for my sierra track car, which should be ready for croft.
I have pm'd my number.

An awful lot of question marks... but the engine alone must be worth the £1200 start price if running.

thats what i thought, wasnt sure about the price though, 2k???

I was thinking about getting a "decent" one for 3500 and using it through the summer while i sort out buying the S1 then stripping it at the end of the year for the running gear.....then i would have a shell/interior for sale????? What do you thinks best? Bearing in mind i will prob get a 4x4 with some work done to it and get to try it out over the summer, maybe even tune it a bit???? Dont know the history etc of this one.........

he wants to much for it ive seen some go on ebay for £2700 complete cars mine only set me back £3500 its j reg 4x4 with full service history and its very very clean.

leather trim would go for around £200-£350
alloys £100 depend on condition
bumpers £150
spoiler £40-£60

once you sold that the rest of the car only owes you £2000

just buy a complete car mate
