Phil, as your the only other person i know that has a E55 I wanted to pick your brain.

My dad has brought out his E55 for the summer, but when he went to get it out of the garage the battery was flat. Not a big problem, new battery.

However was up seeing him the other day & took my freind out for a quick blast. The problem is when he put it into "sport mode" it wouldnt change gear. Just bang's off the rev-limiter . Its ok if he manually changes gear & is ok in any other mode.

Just wanted to know if you had ever heard anything about this or knew anything?

Cheers

..hi mate is it the e55 kompressor?

..if so you have several modes std/comfort/manual..you say manual fine, what about in comfort or std?....I suspect what you have done is moved the gear stick to one side sticking it in a certain gear mode, you can choose to stay in 1st 2nd 3rd or 4th if for example you choose 3rd it will only change to third and go no higher.

Ye it's exactly same model as yours.
I know what your saying. Std & comfort are fine.

He had stopped, changed the gear mode put put it in 4th & pulled away hard(& I mean hard!). But just banged off the limiter in 1st & didnt change up. He has had the car from new & LOVES this car.
Has done the odd track day with it & know's how the gears work so dont think it would be something as simple as putting it in the wrong gear or mode.

Do you think that with the battery dying somthing has happened to the programs in
the ecu?

Im up at my dad's just now so think i will go out & see if it was human error( my old man jusy being a fanny!).Or if its something else then will just have to convince him to trade it in & get something newer & faster.
