Default poous update 59.7pmg

currently at 59.7 for the commute and running around, takes a bit of doing long way off the claimed 67 mpg, but what a difference to what I am used to over the last 25 years of 10 -20 mpg.A must in todays current climate and escalating fuel prices.Filled it full of new patio furniture on sat shame the weather has turned bit cool for a proper barbeque, nice furniture though lol

Wouldn't a normal car with a LPG conversion be as good or better ?

yes, my lpg runaround works out equivalent to 65mpg on petrol if you do reasonable runs. sadly if all you do is short runs and town driving they arent all that good as they start on petrol

wasnt clarkson saying the 1.4TDi Lupo was easily getting 75mpg even with his driving, and it had plenty of torque at motorway speeds despite a shite 0-60. and the lupo is only Ł40-45 ish to tax?

i'd be inclined to get one of them over the Prius. but if i had to go into london daily i'd be tempted by the prius cos of the congestion charge exemption.

Not bad going but as said, i got 55 mpg on a 150 mile trip out of an Audi A3 TDi without even trying. You can still get over 50mpg round town if you drive it steady. Still, every little helps though i suppose.

Thats the thing. Depreciation has to be taking into account as a cost when budgeting and trying to save money.

Its like people who buy new skoda's instead of the audi or vw equivelent. Yes you do save a good few grand when buying a new/newish one, and they are very similar cars mechanically, but it wont be long before the value drops way below the audi or vw, so its false economy. You end up losing out sooner than you think.

depreciation is not an issue someone else has already suffered that as with all new cars .
my poous is an 05.Comparing it to smaller cars like the polo is not a fair comparison. It is however very challenged in the style department but no more so than a xara piccaso.
the post is an update I think it is ugly and not as frugal as toyota quote. The value of these cars has increased due to the congestion charge and the new road tax charges I expect the values of this and certain other cars will increase over the next 2 years as the road tax increases. I susppect bio diesel will also rocket in price as the world food production struggles to meet food demand there are just too many people on this planet
The poous has two power plants and the combined power out put is over 340lb/ft of torque with constant variable transmission so don't mock it's power out put when you have a 150 bhp vw the poous will embarrass you from the lights

wonder how a poous passes an mot the petrol engine cannot be started it only starts via the ecu when cold to get the cat up to temp then it switches off unless the cells are low or additional power is required .stationary the engine is off and the vehicle is in stealth mode which is very good on tescos car park for running granies over.
It is a petrol engine and cannot be compared to the latest diesel technology unless of course the new 09 model is a hybrid diesel

manufacturers fuel figures are total horse shit, have you seen how they achive them? There was an article in Auto car a few years ago, basically they run the car up on a rolling road, using the absolute minimum throttle to get the speed required, then take a stabilized speed on the rollers, and work out how much fuel it has used.... No where near real world conditions!!
