Is it possible to be a petrol head and a bufty at the same time?
Hi there I just thought I would ask if anyone thinks it's possible to be a total petrol head and a bufty at the same time?
I'm building 2 cars at the minute which by the time they are finished should fit both personas.
My Escort cabriolet is geting some mods to put it into the modified concourse section and so is my Sapphire but at the same time should seriously perform once the mods are completed.
What do you reckon everyone? is it possible to do both at the same time?

buftys are a different breed altogether. anyone that gets excited by how shiny the underside of their floor is rather than how it excites you when driven isnt really a petrolhead imo.puting a car up on ramps and placing mirrors underneath so you can see how shiny their prop is odd. thats an obsesive cleanliness disorder

depends on your definition of the two? I would define a petrol head as someone who is interested in cars beyond the norm and spends there recriational time doing car related things, working on going to shows racing driving etc, so by my defenition a bufty is by default a petrol head with the one exeption of the people that trailor there cars etc and dont even run the engines

what excitement must you get from spending ££££'s on a car not to even drive it and just trailer it, i find it sad but do like to see tidy cars i.e twins s2, very tidy/clean etc but not afraid to be driven which is how a car should be

Depends how much you like polishing, my last cossie was mint and fast and used = nightmare. This one is rough used and very quick = low maintanence, just oily bits to keep on top of

I honestly don't know how people get the time and motivation for the full on bufty action. I can't even be arsed washing my cars....
Any time I get to work on cars is usally spent chasing problems due to incessant thrashings

Yep you are indeed a bufty but judging on those black lines we left out of that T junction I'd say you use the car
However the biggest bufty on here is Mike R !!! wouldn't you agree Ryan

i'd say im both.i like the whole car to be clean(still got a lot to do on the escort)underneath etc but not so clean i cant use it.i love to give a car a good pasting and im not frightened of a bit of high speed fun.but i dont use it in the rain now as im pissed off with them rotting and getting covered in shit

I think i'm a bit of both! I have my track car which I never clean (mainly because the roof leaks ) but then I can also spend an entire day washing my other cars and you can always appreciate a spotless well put together car, like the pics of Martin Hadland's new Escort when it was just built and basically concourse and waiting to be used!

i love a clean car dont get me wrong and i respect the concurs people but in my eyes the cars have to be driven. Ive got photos of my cossie sat on my drive covered in snow. I would rather drive the car than trailer it to shows all the time.
