So whats Ronaldo worth then?
Before we start, this isnt a manu V liverpool thread, neither is it to debate whether or not he will move, its just about his potential value.
things to bear in mind when guessing a value,
he wants to play in spain at some point.
Manu say they wont sell.
Miguel Angel Arroyo, Real Madrid's general director, said: "We have the solvency and the financial liquidity to be able to take on a signing of the magnitude of Cristiano Ronaldo. "It would be economically beneficial due to the merchandising that would arise from it."
reading between the lines we know they're willing to go with a silly offer from that statement.
So how much????

He has gotta be worth £40-£50m i guess to a club like Madrid. My feeling is they will sign him this summer or next.
I heard the interview on Sky this morning, the sky reporter asked him " could you tell the united fans that you will definitely be at old trafford next season"
his reply was " i want to, who knows "
that to me is sooooo bad on his part, united made him, pay him extortionate amounts of money and he's already thinking of leaving.
As a footballer the above amount, but because of the commercial value i see it possible them paying much much more.

You cant put a price on him, he is the best player in the world at the minute, so even if you sell him for £250 million, you cant replace him, he is the best.

i would say ronaldo would be worth £35-40million depending on how many clubs were bidding him at the time, maybe more.
if he has a stonker of a Euro 2008 championships he will be worth even more.
i'm hoping middlesborough FC sign him this summer

^^ Got to respect that from a Liverpool fan. It's the truth though, on form he's the best in the world presently and who do you replace him with if he leaves ??
Every United fan would be devastated if he left close season, same as every other club will be thanking their respective Lord he won't be terrorising their defence anymore!
Realistically it's gonna be a mega huuuge £££££ with wages to boot.
Even if I wasn't a United fan I wouldn't want him to go as he makes the Prem good to watch - as does Torres and Adebayor to name two others team's players to be fair. The Prem needs these world class players. How boring would it be without the exciting players who can do amazing things and create such a buzz around grounds. That's what football's all about. The excitement from a good performance and getting results.

the papers were reporting up to anything of £100m
As a united fan, it would seriously upset me to see him leave but even more so disappoint me because the fans and the support he has had at United has been unparellel and I don't know what he would achieve by going to Real Madrid. He's been in the squad since 2003 and he's won premierships, an FA Cup and potentially a champions league. It will be extremely dissappointing to see him leave out of pure greed or selfishness but if that is his wishes then I would wish him well.
P.S. I think all these rumours are total BULLSHIT by the way and the guy isn't going nowhere.

he would be daft to go because he is guaranteed champs league footy at ManU every season, he has top class team players and one of the best managers ever.
and he is guaranteed 1st or 2nd place every season in the premiership, with one of the biggest/best clubs in the world.
likewise as said above why would ManU sell him he's almost irreplaceable and has won them the premiership this year.

yeah he's a cunt for that rooney incident but AFAIK he redeemed himself ages ago by sheer class and genius talent.
maradona was a cunt aswell, but what a footballer.
ronaldo has taken most of the cheating out of his game now. if he was abroad he'd be going down all the time and wasting most of his chances, so no way would he get 41 goals in a season...

he is totally wasted at ManU, he's much better off at middlesbrough!
i wonder what ronaldo will do after his footy career? apart from the obvious thing he will want to manage the Boro

£72 Million ... I think he will go to Real Madrid at some point in his career like Beckham did etc ... but maybe in another 5 years.
but he aint going to Real whilst Van Nist is there plain and simple.
Do you not remeber why Ruud left man utd and went to Real Madrid - he left because of an 'argument' between him and Ronaldo and alex ferguson said c ya to Ruud. Ruud was Man Utds top scorer that Season to and he hasnt been replaced by an out and out striker yet.
I also think we will sign Berbatov or Santa Cruz this year which would be awesome!

Ronaldo did what was best for his country in that situation. If Rooney had done it to Ronaldo, you wouldn't be calling Rooney a cunt for it.
And Man U fans gave Ronaldo stick for that incident, so the "we are loyal to him" stuff is shit.
Personally, i'd be gutted if he goes because he does make the premiership more interesting.

£100 million will be the transfer fee if any is accepted. Remember paper rumours are just that rumours . Listen to the full interview. I find it funny how this comes out the weeks before the champions league final, anybody who is involved in the game knows the mind games that go on and this is exactly that.

Got to be knocking on 80m.
Like mentioned though, he is priceless, you cannot replace the best, no one is better and Man Utd can afford to turn down a 100m offer imo. If he leaves it will be because he has specifically requested the move to Real or Barca, not because Utd want the money.
I think he will move on eventually, but not for a few seasons, hopefully. Would love to see him commit like Giggs or Scholes etc but he has a strong desire to play in Spain, so we'll see what happens i guess.

Wages aint a problem wherever he may end up.
Weather - Given the choice would you rather be in dirty old England or some sunny place in Europe.
Question before you harp on,
If he so wanted to play for Man U that much, why did he demand a mega pay rise to be 1 of the clubs top earners? Because if its the club and the football, the money would be irrelevant.

united wont sell until nani has matured into a better player and he will get their quicker playing with ronaldo. give it a year or 2 and ronaldo will be playing for madrid or barca and i can see his price tag being £80-100 million easily.

wouldn't surprise me if he left next week, all you mancs love him but all he see's is £££££, good player this year but shines mostly against lesser oposition... not like Messi
#36
Happily retired
Love him or hate him mate he is quite simply the best in the world at the mo. Not as skilfull but far more effective for his team than messi.
Football is his occupation & he will go where the money is, the same as we all do in our career. I think hes one of the best ive seen & as a MU fan would love him to stay, but I dont think he will, why should he get kicked in the air every weekend in some dank/wet stadium in the UK when their are easier pickings elsewhere. He aint British remember so no UK loyalty.
Until then I will just marvel at his 40 goals this year all scored against lesser oposition .

I would actually say Messi is a better player, however you can not doubt the talent of Ronaldo, the lad is amazing. You must be looking around the £60m price mark minimum for him.
Real Madrid have the advantage of being a Spanish club and that is where Ronaldo has his heart set on going.
You have also got to look at the revenue he will generate through shirt sales, extra fans etc, not just localy but worldwide. You just got to look at when Beckham went, 23 Beckham Madrid shirts where everywhere, even with LA Galaxies they are selling shirts in this country, when really when would they of expected to do that.
However 1 thing for deffinate, I dont think Forest will be buying him this summer........were looking to sign Messi!
