Default Electric Shocks from cars?

What causes these? Nearly everytime I get out the Saph the fucker bites me!

Just got hit in the arm from it, hurt for a little while and made a small 'cracking' noise too!

I presume it's something to do with static electricity but why does it do it and how can it be stopped?

Do I need one of those gay dangly things that touch the road to earth the car out?

Cheers

Check you haven't got a balloon stuck to the bottom of your car and your not driving on nylon

I had this for a while i think it went when i changed wheels randomly, not had a shock off it for weeks with the new wheels, but used to all the time on the old 1s. Wonder if it's something to do with the rubber? I was thinking it could be an earth problem, i.e. HT lead wise.

Touch the something metal in the car (the A pillar for example) and touch the road just before you get out. That'll stop it!

Can you still get those earthing strips that you used to attach underneath the car and they drag on the road to prevent the static being built up?

I'd say it probably has a lot to do with wax on the car and warm air flowing over it creating a static charge on the car's body as apposed to some of the other suggestions!

i hate it when you get a real sharp one as you get out of a car in front of a crowd of people and have to try and pretend it didnt happen!

the charge is in you as opposed to the car

so when you get out, make sure you touch a bit of the metalwork before you touch the floor and then as you get out hold onto it until you are clear of the car

easy enough once you get the hang of it

also trainers and jeans do it for me in the van but not in the car so

Didn't really want one of those gay earthing straps to be seen, even if I fit it right under the car it'll be visable at some points! ops

Not driving in the nip with the leather, will sweat like a motherfucker in this heat!

Usually in work gear Mark, shirt and tie etc

May well have to put up with one of these strap on things!

I'll try touching the bodywork as suggested tonight and see if it makes a difference, if I remember!
