Default Mates XR2 project

Thought this might be of intrest to a few of the people on here. It's his first ever project car and my brother and I have helped him out here and there with bits but he's done almost everything himself.

As purchased (with my old FRST rims fitted)

Being in the right place at the right time and he managed to buy Rob from SCC's 2 litred XR2i.

The CVH was stripped from the 2 and prep work on the bay started

A DIY refub on the Escort GTi rims

Cossie brakes are a tight fit

2 litre going into its new home

The good bits

And as it stood at the close of last weekend

Unfortunately it failed the MOT on a couple of minor bits but these are being sorted as I type. Hoping it will be at FITP.

What do people think?

I loooooove Xr2s... My first hot hatch..

I think leave the kit black on a red one and also put some original spot lights back on it... quality motor. Love the engine

Cool, though I think the RST wheels looked better, imo.

One of my mates first sporty cars was an XR2 many years ago - he's just bought one from an old boy who had it from new. Currently having a tidy up, I'll have to get some pics of it.

Can't even remember the last time I saw one on the road around here.

.. and you have owned how many?

Had a few of these, and maybe now I wouldnt code the kit.

On a seperate note, I've tied with the idea of putting my engine and running gear into one of these.

I reckon it would be a handful.
