Default rayland 300mm brake help please.

hi i'm scratching my head at the minute and would really like some help off you guys. i have bought a secondhand set of rayland 300mm brakes for my vauxhall corsa. [please don't let that put you off helping me lol] and was told the bleed nipples go at the top. but with the bleed nipples at the top the locator for the brake flexey is in the wrong place [facing down]. is it ok to run the bleed nipples downwards? thanks.

its ok, but the air will be at the top...so you will struggle to bleed it out in place...

may have to bleed while free from car with pads blocked

i'm finishing the car tomo so will beable to get pics then.

also what do you think the reason for them being like this are? i was thinking either they have been split at some point and put together wrong??. or thet are a really old reyland brake kit ant nipples are supposed to be at the bottom??.

ps thanks for quick replys and help.

Nipples to the top and you sure your not trying to for the O/S to the N/S??
The kits should fit spot on.

well, you may have to remove calipers from car, leave hose connected, turn caliper upside down(nipple at top) and bleed....

blocking the pads in with a block of wood or something, so the pistons dont pop out...

i'v tried swopping from side to side mate but means the nipples are the other way round. was thinking of splitting the calipers and swopping one half with the other.

Have you ever thought of picking up the phone I would NEVER sell a brake kit that didn't fit correctly, the nipples face upwards, taking the calipers off to bleed them would be plain stupid! Your calipers have the name 'REYLAND' machined into the front face so why would you ever think my company was called RAYLAND?...

it clearly says that i bought these brakes SECONDHAND. you seem to be getting abit touchey! i'm not slaging off your brakes just wanted to no if anyone else had reyland brakes the same. and with me not spending my money with you i did'nt want to waste your time! have you any useful comments for me or is it best i ring you, as unsure you will beable to help me on the phone.

the only reasons i can think they are like this is -

quote from above-

Do your calipers actually say Reyland on them, as the guy that makes them think they should- meaning if yours dont they may not be reyland brakes at all.

fair play on the not ringing Reyland straight away. i would also be put off ringing in the first case if i hadn't bought something directly from them..
Nice that Martin is helping though.

Get some pics up and the answers will follow^^

a picture is worth a thousand words

if the hoses going in are at an angle, then simply swapping the calipers over side for side (the left to the right and right to the left) should solve the problem

but without seeing the pictures there may be some other stuff going on which you can't explain and we can't help you with

i'm pretty sure martin would probably want a picture just to see what was going on if this wasn't the case (and plus we are all nosey buggers so want to know whats going on as well )

All them lugs do is allow you to tighten the banjo without using yout other hand to hold them in the position you want them in while you tighten them.

If you want to sot this out, take the calipers off, take the bleed nipples out and the link pipe at the bottom off. Fit the link pipe in the holes that the bleed nipples came from and then fit the bleed nipples into the holes that the link pipe came from. Then the calipers need swapping from side to side.

I'm with Dojj on that, just fit the pipes where you want....providing they aint gonna foul or kink.
Also iirc the loactors isn't for locating the actual outlet stem but more so for a tag that it only the originl flexi's from where these brakes came from....if you know what i mean.

Meh, just give Martin a ring, he'll set your right.
