Reconing Calipers
Fitting a big red seal kit to my rear calipers.
Do I need to use special grease for the sliders or just copper grease?
Do I need greases the insides parts aswell or will the brake fluid do that?
Thanks

Hi mate, I done my cossie calipers on my old S1 with the seal and piston kit from BigRed, i never used grease just used plenty of brake fluid for pistons, just make sure the pistons go in evenly.

I used lithium (acid-free) grease on the sliders.
When I rebuilt my rearcalipers I got some special grease that was really slippery and takes quite a while to dry out. That made fitting the pistons a LOT easier than when I tried it with lithium grease. Supposedly it was special caliper seal fitting grease.
I put a bit of grease on the inside to make the refitting of the piston a bit easier.

i used copper grease on the sliders, however i also cleaned the pins on my lathe so they were perfectly clean....imo 99%of caliper issues stem from these sliders!
brake fluid is best for seal lube
pay close attention to the handbrake arm, this also needs a good clean and grease
