Does anyone know if the IB5 and BC bellhousings are interchangeable?

Basicly i need to get the starter motor on the back of my zetec and as the IB5 has the starter there will make life easy.

Its for a mk3 escort and i already have a s1 turbo box so was thinking as quaife say the dif is the same for both (same part number and tech drawing) only thing i can see thats diff is the ammount of bolts that hold the crown wheel on, so can i use the front of the IB5 put the bc internals and case to it and put it in the mk3?

I just had the crown wheel and diff redrilled and tapped so the IB5 took my S1 diff.

Mark, I could be wrong but I'm sure you can use a different BC crown wheel to suit the 6/8 bolt fitting of the ATB.

Then you can use the IB5 box as is?

Its the casing im more worried about as i have a mk3 escort that i want to put it in and i dont want to have to much about with making new mounts up.

Although its good to know that the diff can be made to fit the IB5.


Just found a pic of an IB5 am i right in thinking that the bolt holes will work for a mk3 front and rear mount????????

i think you can change them, i run a ib5 ka box, but with a 2000 fiesta zetec bellhousing so the starter is at the front, the ib5 is based on the bc type so it should fit, ive not really got any pics to show you of mine out of the car so you could compare sorry

I just assumed that an IB5 casing would be diff to the mk3 but i keep looking at a pic i found and that does not seam to be the case.

Think i just need to get one and see what happens when i put it in the engine bay
