SORN it now then the SORN is dispensed with the moment you tax it.

i have done this before even if it only on SORN for a week because i wont take the risk of those DVLA people giving me a fine for one week off SORN.

you can SORN it online now so its dead easy anyway.

AFAIK its now automatic fine issued by the DVLA database when your SORN has expired if you havent either taxed it or re-SORNED it

not sure but i think its a £80 fine. you might get lucky and not get one but knowing how they've got all these things sewn up now....

cant you SORN it now then re-tax it?

I was up until about 6 months ago still getting tax reminders for cars SCRAPPED, even though I had letters from DVLA confirming they are aware of the situation, they even have 4 cars still showing as untaxed, even though the V5's were sent as long ago as 13 YEARS in one case.
All the V5's were sent off, some were even FAXED by recylers in my presence.
I have not even had a hint of a fine, so don't worry, mine were all sent RECORDED where I sent he V5 in, AND got confirmation letter from RM to say received.
Just tell them you filled a SORN form in if they say anything, DVLA and cocksups always go in the same sentence, it's a shambells really.
There is a nice story in this weeks AUTO EXPRESS about a TAX BLUNDER by DVLA, get a copy good read.
