Default Oil restrictor on GT series Turbos

As title really, are they needed ?

I'm considering using a -4 feed to the turbo via a filter, I remember seeing a few issues with tightening up the quip fittings when used on a turbo ? any advice on that ?

100% needed to much oil will drag the turbo
and can damage it not to mention oil passage
to inlet side.
