ive a carpenter and am noticing it and believing we are going into a recession, my reasons being houses arent selling etc building work isnt starting up and its beginning of a new tax year when you'd normally see sites starting. i've just been put out of work due to loosing employer losing a contract, i havnt had a look about yet to see whats about but have noticed over time sites aren't opening and every tradesman i speak to says work is dead?
Speaking as a taxi driver - Trades not picked up since christmas , and even that wasnt really too good , first thing people cut back on when they feel the pinch is nights out i suppose
its got so bad, and with diesel at Ł1.20 locally ive been applying for mechanics jobs again
im seriously considering changing job as all they want is you to work you bollock off and they still rush you, if you do good work they're on your case due to the time, you rush it a bit (which is what they seem to encourage, yet i dont like to, i like neat work but in the time scale given it cant be of a nice quality due to the prices be slashed and slashed again and makes me wonder why i bother when theres jobs i could do with les headache and without risk of being counter charged?
We've had a terrible month for retail cars but thank the lord for stuff selling under Ł2k.
As for the all the media hype about the "credit crunch" all that seems to have done is brought all the nutters out to try and get finance. Must have done 20 proposals last month, had 2 accepted and the rest could have wallpapered the great wall of china with all their CCJs and defaults
Still mega busy at work and the bank keeps on expanding and expanding. It is based primarily based in the middle east so the credit crunch hasn't hit it really.

You sure that you're not doing her twat in?
With the hikes in fuel prices and the like, I have noticed the trains being much much more busy than usual on the commuter services, and they will only get busier I feel. Good news for me I guess
we are not in a recession, but we are in a credit crunch.....very big difference
this time last year in london work in the building game was booming, now its getting hard to spot a building site? prices are terrible for work. when houses dont sell whats the consiquence? stop building as many? which seems to be the problem =work going dead
