Default applied for a job and......

they asked for gcse results with 3 c's or above in 3 subjects, maths english etc. i sat the exams nearly 20 years ago and couldnt find my results. so i explained i went onto further education and gained my BTEC national, ONC and HNC qualifications in engineering and a few others.anyhow i didnt get a interview as i couldnt produce the gcse's.now surely the qualifications i did get are far superior to the gcse results. plus i also qualified a trade as a mechanical engineering fitter.what do you think?

thats bollocks isnt it, its 17 years since i done my GCSE's and i cant remember anything they taught us (and i passed 9 of them at C and above)

i'd have told the interviewer this aswell, and that i wouldnt want to work for anyone who has arse-first views like this.

I think you should have just made them up, unless it was an agency I'd be very suprised if they wanted to see the certificates!!

I'd of just laughed at them

I've never been asked to show any certificates for qualifications. I done my exams about 24 years ago so I'd be fucked if I know where they are anyway....

i've only been asked once or twice over the years for qualifications certificates, but because i cant find them i usually just blag it and fob them off lol

if you go to work at a Local Authority or a corporate outfit with Q.A. or whatever, they will insist on seeing the certificates though. but this should usually only be required for professional qualifications relating to the job, they wouldnt make you dig out your 25 yards swimming certificate.

Ive never once been asked to prove it, and ive done fucking countless jobs.

In fact im sure ive guessed what grades I had in loads as I couldnt really remember.

(or in some occasions blatantly lied when they wanted a C and I got a D )

standard answers to "have you got any gcse's?" is "yes, lots" and then it goes on to more important questions such as "what's your bank details so we can pay you"

i produced 9 certificates of further education to include all the above i mentioned,a guy i know asked the personnel dept why i didnt get a interview and they said he asnt got gcse's(and went on further to ask what a onc and hnc are!!!!!!!) i found out that on previous applications on jobs folk had lied about their exam results and were quite open about it(to a person whos son didnt get a job) so someone got the sack and the other guys son was employed instead.so now every single applicant applying for a position in the company is checked for results before an interview is given.

I applied for a job with curry's straight after university and they asked me to do the maths test. They were only asking ppl they weren't sure about to do the test. My brother was doing a-level maths at the time and didn't have to do it. I had just graduated with a masters degree in physics and the tosser made me do it.

idiot

ive never been asked for qualifications even though i have 5 o levels and 2 highers. but i suppose in the building trade theyre not important.ive even got my advanced level city and guilds in my trade to which i achieved a distinction award for 98% or over but no ones ever asked. they can tell within 10 minutes of starting work whether or not your good or a chancer just by the way you handle your tools.
and in this modern age of advanced technology its easy to make up forged certificates

That all very well, but back in my day was before they had GCSE's.
We had proper exams of "A" and "O" levels and then lowely CSE's.
They made the "new" standard of GCSE cos not enough people were meeting the standards of GCE's (O and A levels).
So I would have to have said to him I dont have any GCSE's, would these GCE's and CSE's do
