if i upgrade my intercooler to a RS500 style one from the standard 4x4 one, will i need to get my fueling/map checked?

i suppose officially the answer would be yes, but i changed mine without it ever being any bother as i'm sure most people do.

tbh in most cases yes, when i fitted a PRO-Alloy IC i saw an increase (or possibly decrease, i can't actually remember lol) in boost pressure.

if you fit a preformace part on your car and the map didnt need alltering then ther was no gain to be had

I thought the intercooler does as its name suggests cools the intake air, thus giving better lower temps. Ya learn something every day on here/or do ya?

also effects boost though!

changed my i/c on the pulsar from standard to massive unit and made positive boost noticeably later. can't remeber if pressure changed!

bigger intercooler, makes cooler air, thus making more dense air. so you add more fuel to make more power.

You also may find that there is more capacity for the turbo to fill thus giving full boost later

thought the reason for making boost later was because the air takes as longer route coz of longer pipe work.

didn't know it would have needed mapping, thought the ecu would adjust accordingly!!

Is this because it will use look up tables for the cooler temps anyway?

my car was mapped by Karl at NMS, so pretty sure it will be right, think i will give him a call though and see what he thinks
