anybodie help me please............took the head off to change the gasket and when it's been put back together and started the oil light comes on at idel.......when u rev it or drive it it goes off..........trying to get hold of a pressure guage to check it but can there be another reason....

Or it could just be a knackered sensor - have a look at the cheapest option first - the wire to it, maybe its frayed and exposed and when the engine is at idle, the vibrations cause it to touch the block thus earthing it out, and when you rev the engine, the movement of the engine on the mounts moves the wire out of the way - just a thought

hopeing it's just the switch...cos this is what happened.........somehow the oil pressure switch got broke during the head off n back on........so they put another one in that they had lying about in a spares box.......but found out that it wasn't in the best off condition............so i've got a new one to put in......fingers xx'd.............then i'm selling the fucking thing and getting my life and finances back..........

Could be the core plug on the pressure release valve ?
Had this happen on my old Harvey engine once, sudden lose of Oil Pressure, light would flicker @ at 1200 rpm & be on @ idle. Go out if reved the engine but knew it'd still be low.
Removed the dizzy/pump pulley, then the cover behind it & found the plug hangin bout in there, got a new one, hermitite green'd it in & was spot on from that day on !
Cheap & easy fix, core plug bout 2 quid & some hermitite ! Did it sort of in situ too !

something to think about there jb...................havn't been able to change it yet......lack of tools (22m long socket) and the weather..........fingers crossed i'll sort it soon...............
