A quick big bhp Transit question
Can't believe i just asked that
Does anyone know what diff ratio a short wheel base 2.0l petrol Transit would normally run?
Also are there any aftermarket wheels that will fit it say off a people carrier or something???
And tyres can i put proper tyres on it or does it have to have van tyres if it isn't being used for carrying stuff????

I don't know the diff ratio but i know someone who has a 2.0 transit that is now running a v6,and apparently the diff from a minibus is better for motorway cruising. 16" five spoke alloys are available from a place near liverpool, these are heavy duty van wheels, and fit on the standard hubs. If your not carrying weight however, see the cathburn customs transit in performance ford, this has a four stud conversion on it using fiesta discs, and rs turbo drums. White indicators are also available. I own an r reg 2.0 dohc transit running on lpg,and find the engine to be the most unsuitable engine for the application, and would love to put a nice torquey v6/8 in there but can't have the vehicle off the road due to work. Anyway do you have a project in mind?

the old transits have a massive stud spacing on them unfortunatly so your limited to what will fit there are a few available but they aint much cop , cant you just change the hubs , although i reckon you might have trouble on the rears as i think they'r a non removable part of the halfshafts
wont cossie rear set up fit with a bit of extending here and there

The project i have in mind is this beastie i bought today!
Although i don't want to go ott on it as i like it sleeper appearance but would like to change the rubber to something a bit more suitable and am just curious about the diff ratio as at 80mph it is revving to 4k

The mirrors seemed fine to me mate but then i don't plan on using it every day its just a toy! Do you know what size the wheels/tyres will be on it now? I know they are from a late Transit.

The P100 might have used the same axle but with 4 studs which is where the 4 stud conversion for the rear comes from but I have no idea about the front....

Welcome to the club mate
Diff ratio is on a tag secured by one of the diff mounting bolts.
Will be either 4.54:1 or 5.1:1
Are you on four or five speed box?

Knowing tyre size and 5th gear ratio, we can calculate what diff ratio you have, assuming that your speedo is correct

Looks like you're on a 5.1:1
Incidentally, have you got the small metal water pipe that goes from turbo to thermostat housing, mine's cracked? (2wd)
