By hand or machine?
Menzerna lead the way IMO for machine polishing.
By hand Autoglym paint renovator isn't bad.

James, don't forget some of those tested have fillers in, so are masking rather than fixing the problem.

I always found that Maguires Gold Class was bloody brilliant at getting the odd swirl mark out!

Paying someone to remove the swirls by machine is a good move, this is the only real way to remove the swirls. After this has been done you can keep ontop of it by washing the car correctly.

Try it by hand on a VAG car

I've been doing a black Golf, and after wet sanding and 4 hits of Menzerna powergloss on a 4" spot pad with Megs DA polisher, a lot of light marks remain.

As said machine polishing is only real way, then any future swirls use products with fillers.

With most of the grammar and spelling on here, capital letters is the least of the worries!

well i guess it depends on how bad the swirls are, if its terrible obviously you'd be there all week by hand and still not remove anything

How funny Oh my sides, I'm glad you stopped when you did!!

Well anyway, I've just been out there with a bottle of red moose machine glaze I had anyway, and I'd say they're about 95% gone, so i'm well happy with that!!!

All I'm saying is I fooking hate cats sometimes!!

Menzerna is the best without going too harsh, but it's well worth investing in a good rotary. I've got a Makita and you really can't beat it

Any links to good bodyshops too?

A paint thickness gauge costs a few hundred, really you need one if you're going to be using a rotary.

depends how harsh a polish you're using...

my PTG cost more than a few hundred, lol, but you can pick up small ones for sub Ł100 that are good enough for general use

You should try the Ultimate Detailing Machine. No worry of it cutting through the paint, as it is not a orbital, it osculates and the results speak for them self.

My red escort, was full of light scratches and swirls from incorrect washing. I spent 3 days detailing the car and the results spoke for them selfs.

Compant called UPTOIA, IN THE STATES IS AMAZING.
