Master Tech is one of the highest level of techs you can get mate...get paid very well.

You will prob start as a PDI Tech then a Service Technician then System technician work towards being a diagnostic/master technician.Thats the order Mercedes do anyways.

a master tech would be looking at Ł12-15ph plus bonuses and overtime.

but if you have just finished college mate your going to take at least 5-7 years before you get anywere near that level.

PDI techs get about Ł7-9ph. that is what you will be looking at being a new tech

not always BUT you will be a master tech in one franchise of vehicle normally......so if you leave you would have to go back a step to become a master tech in another make of car.

I'd definitely go for the Volvo option.

I used to work for Ford and was a Master Technician (parts not Service) with the qualifications I got put in for. Only one higher for me was Senior Master Tech.

NVQ qualifications do not mean jack @ the Dole Office, where as a Master Tech. status means loads to service depts. as it shows a level of competence which is what they look for.

I have worked for Volvo for 11 years. I started off their whilst at college washing cars on a Saturday morning. I finished college and started their full time as an apprentice. I completed three years apprentice and two years after that I achieved my Level 4 Master Technician becoming the youngest in the country to do so at the time.

Volvos training and development program is regarded as one of the best in the country and I can confirm the training you will receive will be very very good.

One word of advice.......stay away from a Stratstone/Pendragon dealership!
