Default Anyone good with PC's/Monitors?

One of my parents fiddled with the settings! My acer 22" LCD is meant to be set to 1680x1050 which is was since I connected it. Now, after someone has had a fiddle, and its gone all stretchy, the max resoltion it wants to let me set it to is 1600x1200 which is obviously wrong. Is there a way of finding the missing setting as it jumps from a lower resolution to the 1600x1200 one without offering the right one.

Reinstall the graphics card driver and then it should automatically detect the monitor and the resolutions that it can display
