Default PayPal, I now understand why some hate them

I got hand it to them for having such a service and that they are able to charge the amounts they do. I doubt I will be using them much more due to all the fee's and if I do, I will make shure to take them into consideration.

When you selli something on eBay and both you and the buyer are foreign ie not using GBP as your currency this is what they charge...

* crappy exchange rate for the buyer
* seller have to pay to recive the money
* upon seller withdrawal they offer crappy exchange rate

The fee's might not seem that high but if you add them all up ie 2,5% here and 3% there and the recivers fee its close to 10%!

they said they would charge 4% for money and yet they charged me 6% so i wasn't covered for the mney i was expecting

it's not a lot in the grand scheam of things, 24p, but it's the principle that counts

i know it's easy to get money to and from peole but it's being run by some cowboys who ow realise that it's something they can control otherwise it becomes really difficult to wait for cheques to clear etc

on the positive side, i always look for paypal stuff on ebay so that all

Their service is absolutely abismal mate. I've stopped using them. Okay, I have to get people to pay me by cheque for stuff I sell on E-BAY but it's less hassle in the long run than trying to sort Paypal out.

I only use Paypal to buy stuff (So its quicker for me to receive the item) if the seller takes Paypal. I will not use it to sell stuff and have people pay me through. I sold my Nintendo Wii before XMAS for roughly £280 - £10 for delivery - Paypal fees of £20 odd iirc.

i have to say their customer services are shocking, weve not accepted paypal for any payments off breaking the evo, would simply lose far too much money!

Ive noticed ebay are introducing a system where you MUST have a paypal account, nothing like a bit of freedom is there

i dont mind paypal to be honest, as on ebay i always slightly overcharge on postage to compensate lol

only reason i get payments from payapl is i buy a lot of stuff from usa and japan so its handy for me

at the min im having a claim against me due to someone breaking something and saying its my fault, but im in the process of doing a counter claim against them just got to wait for paypal to sort this, they told me on the phone to do a counter claim aswell lol

From experience in selling the same things both accepting paypal and not accepting paypal as a little experiment, you would be far better off accepting paypal and paying the fees as the extra money that you get from offering it, more than covers the fees.

Basically, you will get loads more people prepared to bid on your items if you accept paypal, so although the fees are a rip off, you still end up making more money.

The ebay/paypal combination must rake in money.

fee for listing on ebay
fee for the final total on ebay
fee for reciving money
fee for withdrawing money

it's easier i admit but the ammount they take is a bit of a pisstake imo.

It is a piss take without doubt, but a great business and you cant really blame them for it if people are prepared to pay it.

At the moment we have a choice whether to use it or not. I certainly dont agree with the new thing in the pipeline saying that every user HAS to have paypal as a payment option, as that takes away the choice.

Im sure that if we all ran a business and people were prepared to pay £50 for something all day long, then we wouldnt price it at £25 to keep it fair would we?
