ABS malfunction
Does the orange light on the dash come on???? It should briefly come on with ignition/start IIRC then go out and stay out after that. Mine used to do that, light came on over 20mph or thereabouts.

the problem sounds like presuure or lack of pressure i should say in the system, when the pedel goes hard does the abs light come on, then go off

when it goes rock hard it's the pump over pumping
pressing the pedal releasing some of the pressure which is why it might get better after a few minutes

fuses going potty are one thing that springs to mind, but you might also need to look at the condition of the brake fluid and also the pressure switch in the pump as this can also cause problems, especially as they tend to be fairly heat tempremental

the orange light comes on sometimes then it'll go out. the bloke at the local garage reckons that on cossies you should here the brake system under the bonnet prime or make a bussing noise when the ignition is turned on but mine has stopped doing that.

Check the Fuses under the well, Go and do it buddy, it may be the issue, i have known 3 cossies so far with the same issue and one of the 30amps had blown on all of them

thats funny you should say that

as when i bleed my barkes, the pedal is rock solid now

the car stops etc fine, but there is no movement in the peddle at all after bleeding them its just solid

wondering if its over pressurising

as that sounds about rite

any cure for this as it could be doing what this one is doing

also the pump should prime when igntion is switched on but only for a couple of seconds

sounds like the power to the abs pump is not there, i had the wires to mine break internally under the insulation, they had wrk hardened and with teh battery being on and off the car so often , withte the wires being bent out of the way , they had broken off leaving the insulation intact, only found it by doing a 'waggle test' on the loom, had to chop back about 6" on the power feed to the pump from the pos feed off the battery.

I had to replace me ABS pump and complete loom after my priming pump wouldn't stop priming (buzzing). Try pulling the relays out amnd see if they looked melted.

Luckily few people off here came to my rescue with parts

not sure on the escos fella, but on the sierra they are clipped under the glovebox next to the transmisison tunnel

the relays have the fuse holders clipped to them
