Anyone on here got a british bulldog?
Been looking at them for a while now spoke to numerous breeders & know i can expect to pay around the 2k mark but now weighing up the option of getting a rescue dog as there seems to be a lot of people who buy them but cant keep them. Wondered if anyone knows of any good rescue centres? Or anyone who is in the above position and has british bulldog needing a good family home?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Unfortunately Bulldogs are prone to suffere from heart and breathing problems.
Its a gene that unfortunately has been bred through the years.
www.bulldogrescue.co.uk are a fantastci organisation that help rehome unwanted bulldogs, but im pretty sure there is quite a long waiting list!

I love all dogs and love the Bull dogs, they are gorgeous. But the health problems would be a worry for me personally.
These pics are soo cool, their faces just crack me up, so serious looking

If they are bread right they dont have problems other than what any other dog may have. Most problems are quite simply put down to people over feeding the bulldog. There is this stigma attatched to the bulldog that they should be low slung with their chest on the floor weighing 50kgs. The ideal bulldog as depicted by the Kennel club should only be 25kgs. My old boy is 26kg at the moment and is as healthy as anything. He doesnt have breathing problems and I will put money on it that he will out run most people on this site. They are fantastic dogs and as long as your not a numpty and over feed them you wont have any problems with them. Sorry but I dont agree that the breed is cruel, and it fooks me off when I hear people saying the breed should be banned.

I'd never suggest banning them - But people who love their dogs shouldn't deliberately breed in 'extreme' traits that can and do lead to problems.
It's great that yours is healthy and I'm not suggesting anyone on here neglect their pets in any way at all - I just feel sorry for creatures that are obviously struggling with what are essentially deformities.
